Isaiah 1:1-20
Rambling

How religious are you? What about spiritual? Have you ever stopped to consider these questions? In the beginning of the prophet Isaiah’s work (8th Century BC), the people of Judah were incredibly religious and spiritual…and God could not stand it. He hated it. In fact, they are compared to the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah, which God famously destroyed because of their wickedness (Genesis 18-19). Where the people of Sodom and Gomorrah pursued evil self-interest, God’s people in Isaiah’s day spiritually rambled, which God counted as evil.

As we continue walking together through the Bible, we see that God’s response to spiritual rambling is not punishment, but invitation back to his path and his ways.
