What a rough week! In addition to “regular” life challenges, the news was filled with people lying, violence, and then on Thursday, news of renowned Christian author Philip Yancey confessing to an eight-year marital affair. How do we respond Christianly to this? The book of Proverbs was written to teach and train. It is wisdom passed on from a father to a son, from an elder to a junior, from the wise to the naive. This week, Chapter 6 will serve as the launching pad for our next sermon series on what are historically known as “the seven deadly sins,” which we see in full force all around us. Throughout the series, we will examine what makes them deadly, their impact on our lives, and the corresponding virtues that Christ exemplified and calls us to.
