In The Meantime

As a kid, I loved Christmas time. Visiting, goodies, but most of all, waiting to open presents. Our family practiced “Santa” so my brother and I crawled into bed on Christmas Eve with great anticipation of the morning we had been waiting for all month. Tossing and turning, waiting for the time we were allowed to leave our rooms, felt like forever. And yet, this one night of restless waiting was eased by a day of festivities, but what about weeks of waiting? Decades? Centuries? How do we wait well when there is no set deadline? As the church, we are waiting for Jesus to return and make everything right, but when will this waiting come to an end? This third Sunday of Advent, we explore waiting and consider what to do in the meantime.
