Shelter Canada, a non-profit Christian organization, organizes mission trips to El Salvador to build homes for families in need. GoodTree Church is in partnership with Shelter Canada to send a team to focus on providing practical help and sharing the Gospel while by building safe and secure homes for people who have been affected by poverty and natural disasters (Truthfully, most of the work and home building is done by locals, the amazing part of the trip is the building of relationships).

THE MISSION:
The main purpose is to build houses for families in El Salvador who live in desperate conditions. The homes are simple, typically made of galvanized steel, and provide security and shelter from the elements.

THE LOCATION:
Usulután, a vibrant department and city in southeastern El Salvador, serves as a crucial agricultural and commercial center for the region. Known for its fertile soils and hot, humid climate, the area is a major producer of coffee and sugarcane. The department boasts a diverse landscape, from the volcanic peaks of the Usulután Volcano to the ecologically significant mangrove forests of the Bahía de Jiquilisco, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The city of Usulután itself offers a glimpse into traditional Salvadoran life, with its bustling streets and historic center reflecting the area's rich cultural heritage and its roots in the pre-Columbian Indigenous communities who once called it home.
